Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a field relating to at least one of the major areas of assigned instructional duties, plus at least one year of experience instructing in a Learning Center or classroom environment.

Preferred Qualifications

 

Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a field relating to at least one of the major areas of assigned instructional duties.

Position Description

Announcement Summary

Fayetteville Technical Community College is looking for a highly skilled Tutor for the Student Learning Center. This is a temporary part-time Grant Funded position. Qualified candidates will provide quality supplemental instruction to students and assist their identified academic needs. The Tutor will maintain accurate referral, registration, and attendance records, as well as instruct and assist students in subject-specific areas. The tutor will help locate materials and resources to aid in instructional learning. Additionally, the Tutor will possess excellent computer skills to organize and facilitate non-classroom, academic instruction to students on an individual or small-group basis for proactive or developmental purposes through Blackboard Collaborate, Team, or other College supported virtual platforms.

Duties

Essential Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Coordinates with students, faculty, department chairs, and program coordinators to organize supplemental instruction for students in Math, English, and Science courses.

Provide supplemental instruction using Blackboard and other virtual platforms for distance learning students.

Maintain a virtual presence and high engagement with all Distant Learning students.

Maintain a virtual presence to promote communication and collaboration among students and faculty to improve the performance of students in a given course or subject.

Maintain accurate referral, registration, and attendance records, grade tests or supplemental assignments, and evaluate student’s progress.

Communicate with faculty concerning students’ needs and progress and coordinate intervention services to improve student success.

Utilize the early alert software to facilitate positive communication with students and keep advisors and faculty informed of student progress.

Interview, register, instruct, and assist students.

Select materials/resources to meet the instructional and learning needs of the individual student.

Promote high standards for academic success and achievement and continually encourage students to maximize their potential.

Collaborate with subject-matter experts and provide updates to faculty related to a student’s progress in a selected course or subject.

Maintain proper, scheduled work hours.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
