Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma, or equivalent; Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) with two years work experience; UPAHPO COA with current certification in good standing; and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint; required.

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of online training platforms; diploma or degree in a health-care related field, and teaching experience in a health-care related field, preferred.
 

Position Description

Certified ophthalmic instructor to co-facilitate the Ophthalmic Assistant (OA) program.  Provide instruction on ophthalmology terms, diseases, treatments, laboratory skills, technical processes, and professionalism to prepare students for the International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHOP) Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) National Certification Exam.  Responsibilities include all associated instructor duties, in-person and online class preparation, and being able to motivate students with creative and engaging activities.  In addition, other responsibilities will consist of evaluating student progress, preparing curriculum and course material, implementing curriculum updates, and analyzing program progress, as well as completing end of course reports along with other duties as assigned.

Salary:  Based on education and experience.

Start Date:  May 1, 2023.
