Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of an Associate Degree or a High School diploma (or equivalent) plus 2 years of experience in an office environment or related responsibilities

  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in using email, online calendars, retrieving, storing, and printing electronic files and documents
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of customer service techniques that will support the fair, courteous, professional, and nondiscriminatory treatment of examiners, students, and college personnel
  • Able to manage multiple tasks especially during high volume testing
  • Remains focused during long periods of silence without distracting test takers
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings

PearsonVUE and HiSET credentials must be earned in the first 30 days of employment.

 

All other proctor credentials must be earned within 60 days of employment.

  • Certified under the ATI Nursing Education Program for TEAS proctoring
  • Certified under the National League of Nursing for NACE proctoring
  • Certified under the National Reporting System for CASAS Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment Systems proctoring
  • Certified under the Educational Testing Service for HiSET cbt administration
  • Certified under the National Healthcare Assoc. for CET, CCMA, CPT proctoring
  • Certified under PSI/AMP for CST proctoring

Position Description

Proctors participate in the administration of internal (RCC Placement, Curriculum, Accommodations) and external Pearson VUE, HiSET, CASAS, RISE, UNC Online, NCSU Delta, NCSU/EOL, NACE, TEAS, CET, CCMA, CST) placement, entrance, certification, and course exams.  He/she monitors students and enforces time limits and compliance with examination procedures.  Lab Assistant duties include assisting students in the computer lab, checking the functionality of the computers/printers, replacing printer ink cartridges, and replenishing paper as needed.

Test Proctor

  • Verifies identification of examinees and completes appropriate documents at check-in
  • Prepares testing stations/computers for each testing session and seats examinees
  • Strictly follows requirements and policies of test companies, institutions, or instructors in the administration of assessments
  • Protects exam integrity by following appropriate handling and storage procedures and by close and constant observation during testing
  • Maintains confidentiality and security of all testing materials, test logs, and other test documents
  • Creates a quiet professional testing environment and is responsive to student behaviors and needs without disrupting other test takers
  • Provides approved accommodations, including but not limited to reading tests, scribing answers, extending time limits, changing paper or screen color and font sizes, or reserving a distraction free quiet testing space
  • Accurately enters placement and entrance test scores into Colleague and scans placement and entrance test reports into Etrieve
  • Assists with scheduling tests, printing Etrieve test request forms, and paper testing materials

Lab Assistant

  • Answers students’ questions in the computer lab as test duties permit
  • Checks computers/printers periodically and reports problems as necessary
  • Cleans and sanitizes testing and computer lab stations as needed
  • Assists the director in collecting statistics in preparations of administrative reports
  • Answers phones, schedules tests, files and shreds paperwork, replenishes frequently used supplies
  • Assists with the design of signage, handouts, and fliers about testing services

Performs other related duties as incidental to the work described herein
