Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree (MFA Preferred) from an accredited institution with 18 graduate hours in theatre. Or Masters in a closely related field with commensurate experience in theatre.
- Demonstrated commitment to the importance of a liberal arts or general education.
- Demonstrated success in instruction at the secondary and/or post-secondary level.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Positive and collaborative attitude.
- Unofficial Transcripts will be required at the time of Application.
Preferred Qualifications
- Online teaching experience (preferably with Moodle).
- Two years of teaching at the secondary or post-secondary level preferred.
- Successful experience directing major theatrical productions at the secondary or post-secondary level.
- Prior community college teaching experience is preferred.
- Experience working with and sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student population.
- Demonstrated experience with technical aspects of theatre, including costume, scenic design and construction, and theatre lighting.
- Willingness to teach courses on both the Pinehurst and Hoke County campuses and on Moore and Hoke County high school campuses based on department needs.
Position Description
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Deliver Theatre Program instruction to include courses in Play Production, Stage Makeup, Acting for the Camera, Stagecraft, Children’s Theater, Theatre Appreciation, and Theatre History
- Actively develop and maintain positive relationships with area schools, and actively recruit students.
- Collaborate with faculty and community members in developing contemporary productions and presentations.
- Participate in faculty development goals to improve professional effectiveness.
- Follow understood best teaching practices to include- meeting with all scheduled classes regularly and promptly, monitoring student placement and progress, maintaining accurate records, and promoting learning assistance services.
- Cooperate and collaborate with other areas of the College to provide an effective educational program.
- Assume responsibility for all equipment assigned to the faculty member or to those under his or her supervision.
- Attend and participate in departmental, division, and faculty meetings when necessary.
