Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Computer Information Technology/Systems or related field from a regionally accredited college
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to identifying problems, potential causes, and continuous improvement opportunities
  • Maintain open communication in a professional manner

Position Description

The primary duties of the PC Technician are to provide service and support in the areas of desktop, laptop, PDA, audio-visual and software applications.

The duties of the PC Technician include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in implementing the computer migration plan. This includes the following:
  • Creating an image to use as a clone for similar PCs
  • Clone new and existing PCs in preparation for installation
  • Install and configure network connectivity for the newly cloned PCs
  • Troubleshoot and repair desktop, laptop, PDA, audio-visual, copier and printer issues involving hardware, software and/or network connectivity
  • Research new hardware and software for compatibility with existing hardware and software
  • Provide technical support for Lenoir Community College's remote campuses and locations
  • Assist in maintaining inventory records of location of equipment
  • Assist in upgrading and maintain a variety of software applications installed in the college's various labs
  • Research and test new technologies that may make the college more efficient
  • Install printers and the associated printer drivers
  • Assist with the LAN wiring needs of the College

Working Conditions

  • Typical office environment with occasional short term exposure to heat and cold
  • Moderate physical effort requiring long periods of standing, walking, and periodic lifting of 50 pounds or more
