- Associate’s Degree, required; preferably in Networking, Information Technology, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- A+ Certification, preferred
- Additional training in software applications and operating environments, preferred
- Two years’ experience in field, preferred
Position Description
In support of the overall Learning College, the PC Technician I is responsible for providing technical support for all students as well as assisting with installation, maintenance, and support of PC’s and other peripheral equipment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Maintain, update and replace campus computers, laptops, classroom projectors, tablets and printers etc….
- Maintain inventory for information technology assets
- Assist faculty, staff and students thru email, phone or face to face with password problems and technology issues associated with their Moodle, email and Patriot Port accounts.
- Configuring, installing, and troubleshooting computer hardware and software
- Performing set up and configuration of PCs according to pre-defined standards
- Diagnose and repair hardware and/or software issues for PCs and Macs.
- Installing new software and removing outdated software in selected areas
- Ensuring preventative measures are implemented and maintained, including but not limited to: virus protections, computer patches and data back up
- Assist in vendor technical support and IT Staff with troubleshooting to assure timely repair
- Serve as backup and provide support to the PC Technician II.
- Other duties, as assigned
Skills and Abilities
- Develop an understanding and appreciation of the mission, history, current programs, services, and goals of Isothermal Community College
- Proficient in Windows and Macs operating systems
- Excellent computer inventory and tracking skills
- Demonstrated knowledge using the following: projectors, smart boards, desktops, laptops and tablets
- Proficient knowledge of computer imaging software and cloning for software distribution, patches and updates
- Ability to employ troubleshooting techniques, including the ability to differentiate between hardware and software issues
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of computer terminology
- Ability to work well with others
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work under minimum supervision
- Ability to learn and upgrade job skills in order to meet changing demands of the position/field
