An Associate Degree in Nursing or a related field with an unencumbered North Carolina Registered Nurse license is required. Also requires is a minimum of two years’ experience as a Registered Nurse and experience in supervising nurse aides. Good, general computer skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations are all required.
A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field is preferred. Experience teaching adults is preferred. Bi-lingual is preferred. National Career Readiness Certification (NCRC) is preferred. (Attainment required within six months of hire.)
The position duties include providing effective instruction in teaching Personal Home Care Aide (Pre-CNA) courses in a prison facility. Will introduce occupational requirements to maximize success of students progressing to NA I and introduce workplace realities of personal/home care environments vs residential/institutional settings. This position is responsible for the classroom instruction of curriculum in accordance with course guidelines. Required to evaluate the competency of each student through laboratory/skill practice and evaluations. Must organize and maintain class area, including physical facilities, equipment, inventory and materials in a clean, neat operating condition. Will maintain accurate class attendance records/submit reports and paperwork in a timely manner.
