Minimum Qualifications

Training:

An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or technical college or institute in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or a related field; or equivalent.

Experience:

Two years of experience in locksmith/access control field.

Three years of law enforcement, security or related experience with at least one year of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate of the Basic Security Officers Training or Basic Law Enforcement Training is preferred.

Position Description

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
 

  • Assigned lead shift supervisor in the absence of the regular shift supervisor and when assigned as lead, assumes all shift supervisor responsibility, such as: supervising and dispatching officers, responding to calls, and reporting incidents.
  • Serve as Key Custodian for key and building access card distribution to faculty and staff.
  • Develop and maintain all records and logs related to the building access controls.
  • Build lock cores, cut keys, and program/activate access cards.
  • Maintain electronic database through software programs.
  • Maintain, issue, and implement the campus keying system and hardware.
  • Maintain and issue medical supplies for the college.
  • Maintain and inspect of all AED devices.
  • Supervise assigned Security personnel as directed in the absence of regular shift supervisor.
  • Maintain the camera systems for the Department of Public Safety and Security.
  • Maintain, operate, and control the campus S2 Access Control system.
  • Maintains a professional and positive relationship with students, faculty, staff, and community personnel in the performance of their duties
  • Expected to respond in times of crisis and during other emergency events as directed by the Director of Public Safety and Security.
  • Respond to medical emergencies, provide medical assistance, and assist with responding medical personnel.
  • Provide special surveillance, as directed.
  • Patrol the campus by foot, motorized cart, or vehicle.
  • Conduct building checks and fire checks.
  • Unlock/lock building doors and gates.
  • Conduct inquiries of incidents and accidents to include writing reports.
  • Write parking citations and enforce campus rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Provide traffic control.
  • Maintain control, inventory, and issue parking decals.
  • Assist motorists who require vehicle assistance, i.e., flat tire, out of gas, dead battery, etc.
  • Report safety and security hazards to the Director of Public Safety and Security.
  • Monitor Emergency Call boxes and respond to the call.
  • Maintain security vehicles in a clean, safe condition.
  • Provide crowd control at special events.
  • Provide escort services for personnel and funds.
  • Provide directions and answers to questions from staff, faculty, students, and visitors.
  • Assist with various crime prevention programs.
  • Conduct security briefings and trainings, as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
