Position Description
GENERAL FUNCTION:
Under limited supervision, teaches pottery to students of all ages at the Brunswick Community College Southport Annex. Instructor should be highly motivated, enthusiastic, and be detail oriented. Work involves maintaining the small pottery studio in addition to instructing an average of 10-15 participants per session between open studio and class.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Creates lesson plans
- Provides project based instruction
- Provides regular and constructive feedback to students
- Contacts students
- Evaluate and document student performance using established methods, rubrics and criteria
- Submits accurate time sheets, rosters, attendance records
- Conducts routine inventories
- Monitors the proper use of equipment
- Checks equipment for needed repair
- Email communication with students and college administration
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Associates Degree
- 10 years of experience in Pottery and Ceramics
- 5 years of experience teaching adults
- Current knowledge of studio safety
- Must Demonstrate: Sufficient skill as a potter to lead class and resolve pottery-making issues as they arise
OTHER RELEVANT KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Working knowledge of equipment, glazes, clays, stains, etc.
- Good hand eye coordination
