Position Description

The Trustees of Western Piedmont Community College (WPCC) invites nominations and applications for the position of President. For more than 50 years WPCC has provided accessible, high-quality education that improves lives and promotes growth to citizens of this stunning Western North Carolina region. Sitting on approximately 300 acres of rolling hills and lush foliage, WPCC is committed to quality teaching through both distance and on-site environments for higher learning.

With an annual enrollment of approximately 7,000 students, the College offers 104 degrees, diplomas, and certificates in programs of study across 40 departments. Western Piedmont Community College is home to numerous programs and facilities designed to prepare its students for in-demand STEM-related careers, including a state-of-the art mechatronics training facility to advance our Mechatronics Engineering Technology program.  Workforce development is a priority at WPCC, with numerous programs offered that improve basic skills, advance economic development, and customize industry training.

Located in historic Morganton, the city is known as “Nature’s Playground,” and is a short drive from The Pisgah National Forest,  which is comprised of more than 500,000 acres and is known as the Grand Canyon of North Carolina. The Catawba River, which flows through the city and in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains offers incredible views of majestic Table Rock. The area offers a diverse range of recreational activities such as swimming, hiking, fishing, boating, camping, and rock climbing and is located less than 60 miles from vibrant Asheville and approximately 80 miles from NC’s “Queen City,” Charlotte.
