  • Prior experience in development of a departmental professional development plan

 

Position Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:    

Under general supervision, the Professional Development Facilitator will create and implement a professional development plan for the instructional staff of the GEAR (Gateway to Employment & Academic Readiness) Program.  The employee will provide quality training that will provide GEAR staff with methods for delivering cutting edge instruction which incorporates the NC Adult Education Standards and integrated job training.  The employee will coach and mentor GEAR instructional staff on campus and at various off-site locations.  Participation in the AEFLA Professional Development Network Project along with county and regional travel is required. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:                                                                                                                                         

  • Participates in the NCCCS Adult Education and Family Literacy Act Professional Development Network; attends/facilitates training as requested.
  • Designs comprehensive professional development plan for instructors which includes lesson planning based on the NC Adult Education Standards and submits to Program Director for approval
  • Creates and submits monthly training calendar
  • Facilitates departmental professional development; Organizes activities/ programs for instructor engagement
  • Monitors instructor participation and performance and provides weekly and monthly reports to Program Director
  • Collaborates with departmental faculty to address professional development needs within the department
  • Prepare and submit all necessary paperwork, including but not limited to, time sheets, supply requisitions, travel reimbursements, and required reports, in a timely and organized manner
  • Mentors instructors in group, individual, and classroom settings
  • Other duties as assigned

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Three years of experience in education or professional development
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Prior knowledge and experience within college and career readiness, basic skills, literacy programs
  • Prior experience in development of a departmental professional development plan

 

OTHER RELEVANT KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

·         Excellent written and oral communication skills, basic computer skills

·         Knowledge and support of College policies and procedures

·         Must have the ability to communicate and collaborate with other staff and faculty in the performance of the job
