Minimum Qualifications
An Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution is required. Flexible schedule with the ability to tutor one-on-one or in group sessions is required. Excellent oral and written communications skills are required. Applicant must be a self-starter, a team player, and possess the ability to work well with others.
Preferred Qualifications
Tutor Certification (Intermediate Level) through an accredited Tutoring Association such as the National Tutoring Association is preferred. A National Career Readiness Certificate and bilingual are preferred.
Position Description
Primary duties of the Professional Tutor include one-on-one and group tutoring of Wayne Community College students in any of the following areas: Math, English, Reading, Science, Chemistry, Computer Technology, Accounting, Music and any other curriculum as needed. The Tutor will implement diverse educational strategies to connect with students and will assist Academic Skills Staff with Full-Time Equivalency (FTE) required documentation. The Professional Tutor will be responsible for supporting the Academic Skills Center objectives and will perform all other duties as directed by the Academic Skills Center staff.
