Minimum Qualifications
Education Required
-Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field from a regionally accredited college/university
-Active North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Certification
-General Instructor certification by North Carolina Department of Justice, Training and Standards Division.
-Specialized Instructor Certifications by North Carolina Department of Justice, Training and Standards Division (i.e. Speed Measurement Instrument (SMI) Instructor, etc.).
-A valid North Carolina Driver’s License or the ability to attain one upon hire.
Experience Required
- 4 years of relevant field experience in criminal justice (law enforcement, corrections, probation/parole, homeland
security, etc.)
- 4 years of law enforcement training/teaching experience based on regulatory training standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Education Preferred
-Master’s degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field from a regionally accredited college/university.
Experience Preferred
- Greater than 4 years of relevant field experience in criminal justice (law enforcement, corrections,
probation/parole, homeland security, etc.)
- Greater than 4 years of law enforcement training/teaching experience based on regulatory training standards.
- Teaching/training experience in a post-secondary institution.
Position Description
The Program Assistant, Law Enforcement Training will support and assist the Coordinator of the Criminal Justice Law Enforcement Training program for public safety professionals. The Program Assistant shall assist in the planning, developing, coordinating, and delivering of Commission-mandated courses within the Criminal Justice Law Enforcement Training program parameters. The Program Assistant, Law Enforcement Training reports to the Program Director, Law Enforcement In-Service & Pre-Service Training, with oversight from the Dean of Human Services, Public Safety, Health and Physical Education.
