Blue Ridge Community College is currently seeking applications for a Program Assistant- Law Enforcement, full time. The Program Assistant provides secretarial and administrative support to the Dean of Public Safety Training. Job duties include supporting the day-to-day operations, record keeping, and scheduling for the Basic Law Enforcement Training program. Serves as the first point of contact for all matters related to the law enforcement training and communicates necessary information to the appropriate faculty and staff in the department.

 

Education: Associates degree or higher in office systems technology or criminal justice related field required.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of proven experience. Experience in a criminal justice workplace or as a criminal justice professional strongly preferred.

Knowledge and Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with a good working knowledge of grammar, punctuation and spelling. Ability to work multiple tasks with minimum supervision and instruction as required. Strong multi-tasking abilities and strong customer service skills.

Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite or similar products, College email and website, web-based computer applications associated with the position. Ability to type 35 WPM. Ability to multi-task and work quickly under pressure. Creativity and resourcefulness in accomplishing new tasks. Must possess the ability to active and use the emergency notification systems. No criminal convictions (excluding minor traffic offenses).

Ability to communicate and work harmoniously with supervisor, faculty, staff, students, general public, and emergency responders. Ability to handle stressful situations and remain focused under stress, the ability to act in a decisive manner, using good judgment.

Physical Demands: The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines.
