Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree in History, Humanities, Philosophy, or related area.

Communication, both oral and written, skills necessary. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word). Applicants not meeting this minimum requirement will not be considered for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference given to applicant with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in History and leadership experience. Teaching experience at the community college or four-year college level and on-line, in Blackboard, is also preferred.

Position Description

Successfully perform duties outlined in the Organizational Handbook for the Program Coordinator including but not limited to the following:

Provide direct supervision to the faculty for Humanities, History, Philosophy, and Religion classes.

Assist the Dean of Arts & Humanities with identifying and recruiting potential faculty for the Humanities Department; participate in the interview and selection process; provide initial divisional orientation and training to new hires.
 

Assist the Dean of Arts & Humanities with scheduling and staffing requirements for all Humanities, History, Philosophy, and Religion classes.
 

Provide input to the Dean of Arts & Humanities regarding divisional budget needs to include part-time salaries, supplies, equipment, travel, and other costs.
 

Develop, review, and recommend new or modified course outlines, supplies, materials, and textbooks; maintain currency of instructional techniques and methods.
 

Recruit and advise students, process student documentation, prepare reports, and perform internal audits.
 

Monitor and improve student retention.

Manage and provide input on program reviews, assessments, and other departmental activities.

Comply with instructional responsibilities outlined for instructional faculty in the Organizational Handbook.

This position is classified as faculty which requires the candidate to deliver quality instruction for face-to-face and online classes.
 

Provide quality customer service to students, faculty, and staff.

Participate in committees and other activities, as assigned.
