Minimum Qualifications
Associates Degree in Cosmetology from a regionally accredited institution
Current North Carolina State Board Cosmetology (NCSBC) and NCSBC Cosmetology Instructor Licenses
Minimum of five years’ experience teaching in a Cosmetology program.
Comprehensive knowledge of programmatic accreditation and regulatory agency requirements and accreditation standards.
Knowledge of institutional effectiveness, institutional planning, and outcome assessment.
Knowledge of workforce development continuing education programs.
Experience in online instruction and course development.
Minimum three years’ work experience in cosmetology
Minimum three years’ teaching experience in a community college setting

Position Description
Department Chairs/Program Directors are professional, credentialed educators with the primary responsibility of providing administrative leadership for assigned programs and providing a quality learning experience for Rockingham Community College students in the respective programs. Department Chairs/Program Directors are responsible for but are not limited to program development, organizing, promoting, and teaching. Department Chairs/Program Directors will work collaboratively with internal and external partners to facilitate education opportunities and curriculum development relevant to workforce needs.
Department Chairs/Program Directors are expected to perform all program coordination and instruction-related duties in a timely manner in accordance with the mission, policies, and procedures of the College, the North Carolina Community College System, and with appropriate accrediting entities where applicable. Department Chairs/Program Directors are also responsible for providing placement, advising, follow-up support services and performing other duties as assigned.
The Program Director will maintain a teaching load of a minimum of 6 – 18 contact hours to maintain relevancy in teaching and learning. This range is based upon the number of programs and faculty assigned to the department chair/program director.
