Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline (healthcare, education or business)
Ability to organize and administer programs and services
Skill in the use of computers and commitment to using technology in instruction
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively and collegially with others
Ability to provide leadership in anticipating and responding to change
Ability to proactively address educational needs of providers
Effectiveness in the following College organizational competencies:

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred:
Current unrestricted license as a registered nurse in North Carolina
Prior teaching experience or in designing educational programs
Experience with instructional technology

Experience in marketing educational programs

 Responsibilities:The Program Director, Workforce Development and Continuing Education provides leadership in response to the educational needs of providers, organizations, businesses and community members.  The position is responsible for the design, implementation, and evaluation of appropriate educational and non-credit training programs, which strengthen ties with health care agencies and other community partners. This position reports to the Associate Dean, Workforce Development and Continuing Education.  The Program Director has the following responsibilities:

Develops, organizes and implements continuing education courses
 
Works collaboratively with faculty, staff and external agencies
 
Proactively consults with providers to identify training/educational needs and develops curriculum to meet identified needs

Develops and implements strategies to engage stakeholders (employers and potential students)

Hires, orients, mentors, supervises and evaluates faculty

Identifies feasible occupational extension course offerings, sets up courses/schedules (classroom and clinical), selects course materials, facilitates development of course syllabi, and evaluates courses and instruction
 
Assists instructors in textbooks/reference materials selection for courses

Ensures compliance with local, state and federal health care regulations

Facilitates processes to ensure compliance with all College policies and procedures

Maintains instructional records

Maintains inventory of educational materials and equipment

Provides academic advisement of students and assists in the registration process

Assists in the development of School budget

Assures that tasks are completed on time and within budget

Serves on college committees

Collects and reports data according to local, state, or federal requirements
 
Maintains contacts with business, industry, and professional organizations to ensure that instructional programs are current and include advances in occupational or academic field

Assists with the development and implementation of long-range goals and objectives at the School and institutional level
 
Develops promotional materials.  Works with marketing to get these materials published, printed, advertised and/or distributed
 
Assists in student recruitment and retention, including College-wide marketing initiatives

Maintains currency with issues and advances in education and health care

Participates with other CE coordinators and directors in program planning

Prepares and submits reports as required by the College

Participates in College and School meetings

Performs other tasks as assigned that support the mission and initiatives of the College
