The Purpose

Blue Ridge Community College is seeking a qualified and skilled individual to be our new Continuing Education Program Specialist! This position allows for creative and innovative planning, development, and organization of our Corporate Training as well as our Fire & Rescue Courses. This position will also be charged with planning special college events for the Economic Workforce Development/Continuing Education Division. What You'll be Doing

  • Assist in maintaining the course and program records for the Corporate Training and Fire & Rescue departments.
  • Support the instructors with various tasks such as ordering materials and books for courses.
  • Accurately generating contracts within Colleague and/or Destiny One for instructors and time sheets.
  • Build sections, register students and grade courses for Corporate Training and Fire & Rescue courses using Colleague and/or Destiny One. Create course and testing packets.
  • Collaborate with faculty, adjunct instructors and staff to develop and market appropriate courses to meet the needs of the community.
  • Maintain functional filing and data retrieval systems for the Corporate Training and Fire & Rescue courses within the Division. Maintain a secure file system for all confidential client information.
  • Provide information about programs and assistance to students, visitors, colleagues and customers.
  • Assist with answering incoming calls to the Economic and Workforce Development Operations Office and assist with walk-in registration, as needed.
  • Provide back-up assistance for all other program areas in EWD/CE.
  • Assist with the promotion of departmental projects and seminars through brochures, mailings, and other correspondence.
  • Perform comprehensive reporting as required by state-regulated outside agencies for a specific program area; e.g., NC Office of State Fire Marshal (NCOSFM); National Fire Academy (NFA);
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Curriculum program offerings at the college.
  • All employees are responsible to ensure compliance and confidentiality with all policies and procedures of the College, NC Community College System, and applicable State and Federal regulations.

Additionally

  • Maintain the technical competencies necessary to the job function.
  • Assist with all program registration and grading within the division, as needed.
  • Being flexible to assist with starting classes on evenings and/or weekends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Salary Range

$37,688.00 - $56,532.00 Annually.Salary starts at a Minimum of _$37,688.00 but is dependent upon relevant experience. Maximum Salary is $56,532.00 Annually.

Skills and the Know-How

The ideal candidate will possess strong personal and professional integrity, effective verbal and written communication skills, and a commitment to safety. Current knowledge in the field is critical. Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite or similar products, database systems, College email and website, and other computer applications associated with the position. Ability to work effectively in a team and with diverse clients required.

Physical Demands

The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines.
