Minimum Qualifications

Required:

 

Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in Project Management or related field with a minimum of 2 years project management experience

 

Organizational skills sufficient to handle multiple tasks, manage multiple projects, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines

 

Excellent written and oral communication skills

 

Ability to research, analyze and propose learning solutions for educational needs

 

Working knowledge of Moodle and Microsoft Teams/or similar learning management system

 

Effectiveness in the following College organizational competencies:
  -  Translating College purpose, values, and vision into organizational action
  -  Collaborating and facilitating
  -  Creating and innovating

Position Description

 

AWESM OBJECTIVE:

 

Align short-term training with career pathways in advanced manufacturing. Support improved student recruitment and enrollment into Computer Integrated Machining, Mechatronics, Industrial Systems Technology, and Welding programs. Implement the Business & Industry Leadership Team (BILT) model for strategic employer engagement and a structured process for awarding credit for prior learning. Establish infrastructure that combines the interests of colleges, employers, and workforce development boards. Give employers access to a stronger pipeline of talent aligned with current and future workforce needs.

 

The Project Coordinator position is grant funded by the Department of Labor until January 31, 2025 and responsible for the coordination of grant activities on the Davidson-Davie campuses. This grant includes a consortium of the following colleges: Alamance CC, Davidson-Davie CC, Forsyth Technical CC, Guilford Technical CC, Montgomery CC, Randolph CC, Rockingham CC, and Surry CC. The Project Coordinator reports directly to the Associate Vice President, School of Workforce and Community Engagement and have the following specific responsibilities:

 

  • Promotes College mission, values, and vision
  • Promotes AWESM consortium mission, goals, and vision
  • Work with advising and career services to develop and implement strategies for Advanced Manufacturing enrollment, placement, and retention of students
  • Work with Davidson-Davie recruiters, Piedmont-Triad advanced manufacturing companies, local workforce development boards, basic skills, and K-12 schools to recruit students into advanced manufacturing pathways 
  • Work with Institutional Research personnel, advising, workforce development boards, faculty and staff to collect, analyze, and report student data to the Project Manager at Forsyth Tech Community College
  • Maintain and update accurate database on students, employers, grant funding and project outcomes
  • Attends group meetings to provide information on services, requirements and procedures
  • Conduct job development and referrals to connect students with hiring employer
  • Help develop criteria for credit for prior learning
  • Recruit and retain member for the regional BILT
  • Attends weekly, monthly and quarterly meetings, to review new policies and procedures, brainstorm with consortium peers to achieve the goals of the grant
  • Performs other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the AWESM grant and College
  • Maintains high level of sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds
