Position Description

DEFINITION:

The Provost of the CFCC North Campus is accountable for the strategic leadership and operational management of the Career and Technical Education Division as well as serving as the senior administrator for the CFCC North Campus.
This position provides supervision and evaluation of direct reports and other employees, coordination of course scheduling and management of course loading to meet student and program needs.  Position duties require management of budgets; development of relevant institutional effectiveness goals for the division; development of faculty goals that contribute to the accomplishment of the division and College's goals; assessment and continual improvement strategies of programs and courses; and development of relationships with other institutions of higher education, and other external entities to support the College’s strategic plan. 
 
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
 

  • Receives supervision from the Vice President of Economic and Workforce Development
  • Exercises supervision over Career and Technical Education division’s department chairs, faculty, technicians, and administrative support staff
  • Serves as a liaison to other college administrators to ensure a positive customer experience and to effectively manage the CFCC North Campus needs. 

 

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTION STATEMENTS - Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
 
Essential Functions:

  • Provides day-to-day operational oversight of the CFCC North Campus and serves as a liaison to other administrators of the College regarding departments such as: Student Services, Business Office, Curriculum, Maintenance, Environmental Services, Safety and Security, Facilities and Grounds  
  • Consistently visits all areas of the campus to ensure high levels of efficiency in customer service perception to include cleanliness, facility repairs, ground maintenance and other visual deficiencies 
  • Principles and procedures of academic and instructional development
  • Monitor space utilization for maximum efficiency
  • Resolve space scheduling conflicts
  • Awareness of internal and external events
  • Collaborates with the Vice President of Academic Affairs (Chief Academic Officer) regarding program approval for new programs and changes within existing programs
  • Collaborates with the Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness regarding accreditation
  • Lead and manage the development and implementation process for short and long-term plans for the Career and Technical Education Division; support and contribute to the achievement of the College’s strategic objectives, goals, and mission; evaluate the effectiveness of such plans and activities and adjust as applicable
  • Implement and monitor a comprehensive and systematic approach to continuous improvement by using and analyzing program, course, and student assessment data to design, review, evaluate, and revise programs and academic success initiatives
  • Develop and implement recruitment and marketing strategies to grow enrollment in Career and Technical Education programs
  • Provide leadership and direction to support the enrollment and student completion goals of Career and Technical Education programs
  • Maintain accredited program standards, to assure continuation of program accreditation, and program articulation agreements
  • Recruit and select quality faculty for the division, provide leadership development for department chairs, and encourage professional development opportunities for faculty and staff by promoting the College’s mission
  • Manage and encourage communications that promote collaboration of program and discipline to faculty, process improvement, retention, graduation, and program and instructional best practices
  • Implement and monitor compliance within the division with all College policies and procedures
  • Support and document continued compliance with all accreditation principles relevant to the division and Career and Technical Education
  • Ensure all timelines are met and requirements are submitted by established deadlines
  • Provide community level support by developing advisory committees where appropriate that contribute to the accomplishment of the division's goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to serving on committees and participating in professional development
  • Develop and cultivate apprenticeship programs by initiating and maintaining relationships with business and industry to meet student and employment demands
  • Provide oversite and direction to maintain student enrollment in established apprenticeship programs

 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

  • Operational characteristics, services and activities of a comprehensive career and technical training program
  • Organizational and management practices as applied to the analysis and evaluation of       programs, policies and operational needs
  • Principles of career and technical programs
  • Principles and practices of community college administration
  • Fundamentals and practices of budget preparation and administration
  • Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation
  • Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations
  • Principles and procedures of program development and administration of instructional student support services

Ability to:

  • Work collaboratively with management across the College
  • Apply college policies, procedures, rules and regulation
  • Select, supervise, train and evaluate assigned staff
  • Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals
  • Prepare and analyze administrative and statistical reports, statements and correspondence
  • Prepare, oversee and administer complex budgets
  • Making campus observations
  • Communicating well with leadership, colleagues, outside contacts as well as students both written and verbally 
  • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following:
    • Ability to perform inspections of facilities and grounds
  • Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of:
  • Making sound decisions
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of personnel and programs
  • Demonstrating intellectual capabilities.
  • Prepare clear and concise administrative and financial reports
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including government officials, community groups, accreditors and the general public
