Minimum Qualifications

Requirements

Master's Degree and a minimum of five years of experience in the field of public safety or with managing a community college public safety program
 
Five years of managerial and administrative experience or five years of program management experience in a community college setting

Provost, Public Safety Training Division (70%)
 
*Provides leadership, management, and assistance to all staff with administrative and program development responsibilities in the areas of Fire/Rescue Services, Law Enforcement, and Correction and Detention
 
*Provides leadership in developing, implementing, and maintaining degree and non-degree programs that respond to community needs, prepare students for success, and meet the external requirements of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
 
*Serves as the Director of the Public Safety Training Academy, ensuring compliance with CALEA (Commission on Accreditation of law Enforcement Agencies) directives, establishment and implementation of Academy policies and operational procedures including proofs of compliance
 
*Provides guidance and oversite for the CALEA audit process
   
*Recruits, hires, supervises, and evaluates the performance of directors, department heads, and administrative staff
 
*Coordinates assigned activities with Department Directors and Coordinators

*Directs the development and administration of the division budget as appropriate
   
*Serves on the Criminal Justice Regional Training Committee
   
*Develops new and enhances existing public safety partnerships
 
Approves contracts, leave, purchase and travel requests  
 
Maintains good working relationships with law enforcement, corrections, private security, Fire, and EMS agencies
   
Ensures compliance of regulations for all public safety training conducted in the division
 
Serves on appropriate college and community committees to promote existing and new programs
   
Establishes and maintains an Advisory Committee for the Public Safety Training division
   
Participates in and promotes institutional effectiveness throughout the division based on the College's Institutional Effectiveness plan and SACS criteria
   
Maintains annual Institutional Effectiveness goals and objectives in accordance with the College’s platform
   
In collaboration with the Workforce Continuing Education Registrar, fulfills the requirements of the Internal Audit plan as approved by the Board of Trustees
   
Represents the College at internal and external functions related to Public Safety
   
Plans, organizes and directs the academic, faculty, student support and administrative activities of multiple departments  to ensure that assigned programs comply with college standards, policies, and procedures
   
Participates in the development and expansion of course offerings at the Public Safety Education Campus and East Wake Campus
   
Evaluates established performance objectives and performance reviews, and implements college personnel policies and procedures for assigned staff in cooperation with the appropriate division dean
 
Completes applied benchmark project on an individual or group basis when required by the College
 
 
Chief Campus Officer – Public Safety Education Campus (30%)
 
*Provides oversight of Public Safety Education campus operations and ensures that services are integrated
 
*Provides leadership for enhancing the visibility, enrollment, and resources of the Public Safety Education Campus
 
*Facilitates communication and collaboration among all campus constituencies
 
*Assumes localized, auxiliary supervision for key campus positions in collaboration with appropriate centralized deans and vice presidents. Examples include: Curriculum Education Services AVPs and Deans, Student Services Liaison, Campus IT Officer, and Workforce Continuing Education Liaison
 
*Provides rapid response in situations that require immediate local attention and report incidents to appropriate members of central chains of command
 
*Facilitates enrollment management in collaboration with appropriate deans and vice presidents: (1) Manages distribution of resources among all service areas and optimizes use of campus facilities, and (2) Reviews programming of existing resources on an ongoing basis and redistributes allocations based upon performance
 
Serves as a member of the Multi-campus Advisory Board and participates in the development of policies and procedures that address Wake Tech's multi-campus environment
 
Participates in the planning, design, and occupation of new buildings

Assists in projecting future needs for the campus in areas such as staffing requirements, supplies, furniture, equipment, and physical facilities
