Position Description

 

DEFINITION:

Assist with Art studio functions in the WA building at the Downtown Campus.

The position focuses on the following skills:

  • 2D and 3D studio operations
  • Art gallery exhibition, display, and operations
  • Online and social media content maintenance  

 
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Receives general supervision from Visual Arts Program Chair or Art Instructor(s) who oversee the assigned spaces in the WA Building.
Exercises no supervision.

 

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
 
Essential Functions:

  • Studio Responsibilities:
  • Organizing, preparing, and maintaining campus art studio spaces
  • Assist with inventory and supply orders
  • General office assistance
  • Oversee open studio hours 
  • Assist with classes taught in assigned spaces

Other Important Functions:
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

  • Course content, equipment, supplies, reference materials, and safety procedures appropriate to the assigned spaces
  • Operational techniques of art studio equipment
  • Safety practices in working with art studio tools and supplies.
  • Basic inventory and purchasing processes and procedures.
  • Basic principles and procedures of record keeping.
  • Personal relation skills to work with the students, faculty, and staff.

 
Ability To:

  • Operate and demonstrate the correct methods, practices and techniques of tools, materials 
  • and equipment used in the assigned art studio space.
  • Maintain the equipment and supplies in a safe and organized manner contained in the assigned spaces.
  • Plan and organize work to meet priorities and deadlines.
  • Identify and solve problems, and facilitate problem solving.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Work independently in the absence of supervision.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with the instructors and staff 
  • in the course of work.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully, both verbally and in writing
  • Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:
  • Making observations
  • Reading and writing
  • Communicating with others
  • Operating assigned equipment
  • Handling varied tasks simultaneously
  • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following:
  • Standing or sitting for extended periods of time
  • Operating assigned equipment
  • Handling varied tasks simultaneously 
  • Bending, stooping, climbing, or lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Maintain mental capacity, which allow the capability of:
  • Making sound decisions

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
