  • Must have five years’ experience as an auto mechanic

  • Prior teaching experience is preferred

Position Description

DEFINITION:

Auto Safety and emission inspection prepares auto technicians and service personnel as inspectors for motor vehicles made prior to 1996.  Instruction covers regulations and test inspection procedures. Instructor must insure that students can inspect a vehicle properly and successfully pass qualification exams for certification at a licensed inspection station. Prepare auto techs and service personnel as on-board diagnostics emission inspectors.  Instruct students in regulations and test inspection procedures for OBD emission inspections.  Prepare students to sit for the state certification exam. Provide classroom instruction to college students through lecture, demonstration, online and laboratory exercises, handouts, and responding to questions and testing.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

  • Receives supervision from the Associate VP of Continuing Education 
  • Exercises no supervision.

 

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

 

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTION STATEMENTS

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Provide classroom and online laboratory instruction to students
  • Prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities; develop and prepare supplement materials to enhance textbook lessons
  • Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance; grade record individual scores
  • Provide classroom demonstrations on various equipment and machinery; develop laboratory assignments to provide hands on experience as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance
  • Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to required teaching area and in accordance with CFCC policies and guidelines

Other Important Functions:

  • Assess the relevancy and impact of various lessons; revise/improves lessons format to meet current trends and needs of the profession
  • Oversee and participate in field studies and assignments; travel with students to provide assistance and instruction as appropriate
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required

 

Qualifications

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

  • Classroom and laboratory instructional techniques and procedures.
  • Principles and procedures of academic and instructional techniques and procedures.
  • Current trends, research and development in the area of assignment.
  • Principles and techniques involved in test development and administration.

 

Ability To:

  • Interpret and apply College goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain cooperative-working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES--Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
