  • 5 years’ experience as an automotive technician.
  • Master ASE certification
  • Experience in training others in a workforce or classroom/lab setting.
  • Willing to teach day or evening classes.
  • Basic computer skills or a willingness to learn.

Position Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Automotive Instructor will prepare students for a successful career in the automotive industry through instruction on: brake systems, electrical systems, engine performance, engine repair, suspension and steering, automatic and manual transmissions and drive trains, heating and air conditioning systems and other areas as needed. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: classroom instruction, delivery of project-based learning activities, assessment, examination and grading. This is a part-time position.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares and updates material/outlines.
  • Provides traditional lecture and project-based learning activities.
  • Prepares course objectives following industry standards and applicable requirements.
  • Plans and documents a program of study that meets the needs and abilities of students.
  • Provides instruction using handouts, texts, audiovisual, and project-based learning.
  • Requires accurate attendance and timely end of course paperwork. 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • 5 years’ experience as an automotive technician.
  • Master ASE certification
  • Experience in training others in a workforce or classroom/lab setting.
  • Willing to teach day or evening classes.
  • Basic computer skills or a willingness to learn.
