Education Minimum: High School education or GED
Education Preferred: Training and experience equivalent to a Subject Matter Expert, Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, NCJA General Instructor Certified
Experience Minimum: Criminal Justice Practitioner Experience or related fields. Instruction in adult learners and diverse populations.

Position Description
Summary
Must be able to explain and teach community college students from various backgrounds, cultures, ages and experience levels subjects centered on modern Criminal Justice practitioner concepts and applications. The position involves the teaching of the principles, theories and techniques used in Criminal Justice. Must have a thorough understanding of the multiple functions of Criminal Justice and student success strategies.
Knowledge & Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- External class requirements; course research, design, development, training
- Manages classroom, students, and assorted paperwork
- Teaches classes and instructs; conducts learning activities and assessments
- Prepare course materials such as homework, assignments, lesson plans, objectives, and handouts
- Maintains cleanliness of class/labs area
- Maintain security of tools and equipment
- Other duties may be assigned as needed
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Language Skills
Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of descriptive data and information, such as policy manuals, Employee Handbook, SACSCOC Criteria Manual, program guidelines from JCC, course syllabi and course textbooks.
Mathematical Skills
Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as ability to calculate decimals and percentages. This position must be able to provide accurate data for program costs projection analysis.
Reasoning Ability Functional Reasoning
Requires the ability to apply principles of influence systems, such as motivation, incentive, teaching andragogy, and leadership. Ability to exercise independent judgment to apply facts and principles for developing approaches and techniques to problem resolution. Requires the ability to exercise the judgment, decisiveness and creativity required.
Computer Skills
A complete knowledge of Microsoft Products as used in overall management in an educational environment is required, other commonly used educational formats in Criminal Justice technology.
Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Other certifications may be requested depending upon instructional block.
Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization
Requires the ability to use, operate, and/or handle a variety of office and Criminal Justice related equipment.
Physical Demands
This position is normally active with some physical demands of lifting up to 60 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Have the ability to complete all objectives of course assigned.
Work Environment
The position has responsibilities in classroom and laboratory environments. The position may require work in a variety of environments including outdoors in extreme conditions on occasion.
