Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education/Training:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in chemical technology, chemistry, or a related scientific field.

 
Minimum Experience:

  • Knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills:

  • Previous experience in customer service, marketing, recruitment, and database management and design, preferably in higher education, is preferred

Position Description

DEFINITION
Recruit new students for the Chemical Technology program in accordance with the mission, goals, and policies of the College.   Network with local and state employers related to the chemical technology program.  Responsibilities include recruitment, planning, database management, customer service, presentations, campus visits, employer site visits, enrollment assistance, and job placement.   
 
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

  • Receives direction from the Chemical Technology Program Director.
  • May assist with functional and technical supervision over clerical staff, work-study students, and ambassadors.

 

Duties & Responsiblities: 

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
 

  • Specific goals of the Program Liaison will include: (1) increasing enrollment of the chemical technology program; (2) helping create a chemical technology presence at every CFCC campus; and (3) creating networking opportunities with local and state-wide employers.   
  • Provide information regarding admissions requirements and chemical technology program benefits to prospective students via phone, mail and personal visits; follow up with mail or phone calls, as appropriate.
  • Deliver enthusiastic, educational CFCC approved presentations to individuals, groups, and classrooms in high schools and selected CFCC courses. 
  • Develop professional rapport with high school students, faculty and staff, and institute a high school visitation plan that will offer consistent customer service.  Implement same plans and objectives with selected CFCC courses.
  • Develop professional rapport with chemical technology related employers across the state of North Carolina.  Contact and meet employer laboratory managers and human resources staff to explain the benefits of CFCC’s chemical technology program.  
  • Meet with the Chemical Technology Program Director on a regular basis for accountability.  
  • Visit businesses/industries to discuss educational opportunities with employees or employee groups to enhance their current skills and/or better prepare them for advancement within their organizations.
  • Maintain awareness of new developments within the Chemical Technology program.
  • Work with the Chemical Technology Program Director in developing marketing strategies, as well as publications to be used in the recruitment process.
  • Maintain detailed communications campaign including supply of recruitment materials to include postcards, brochures, view books, applications and other pertinent print items as requested.
  • Communicate with college officials concerning suggestions from prospective students along with business and industry suggestions for new courses, programs, or updating of current programs/courses.
  • Participate in the enforcement of the Rights and Privacy Act.

  • This is a 3-year, 20 hour/week grant funded position.
     
  • This job requires a significant amount of travel (>50%), including multiple overnight trips across the state of North Carolina. A clean driving record is required.
