- Current NC AEMT, NC Paramedic credential or other approved credential or certification and experience relevant to assisting in EMS education
Minimum Experience:
- Two year as an active field provider at their level of EMS credential

- Three years as an active field provider at their level of EMS credential
- NCOEMS Level 1 Instructor
- AHA, NAEMT, or other instructor certifications
Position Description
DEFINITION:
The EMS Clinical Instructor’s assigned duties requiring considerable technical knowledge and ability in the assigned field of specialization. The instructor is expected to exercise independent judgment in the performance of duties and is responsible for supervising and maintaining all laboratory supplies, materials, equipment and records.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
- Receives supervision from the Director of EMS Programs
- Exercises no supervision
Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
- Assist with the set up and maintenance of the clinical schedule
- Assist students with ensuring all clinical benchmarks are adhered
Other Important Functions:
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
- Knowledge of CAAHEP/CoAEMSP clinical/lab standards
- Operational techniques of laboratory/classroom equipment
- Basic principles and procedures of record keeping
- Personal relation skills to work with the students, faculty and staff
Ability To:
- Provide basic instruction in practical exercises related to the EMS curriculum
- Identify and solve problems and facilitate problem solving
- Maintain accurate records
- Understand and follow written and oral instructions
- Work independently in the absence of supervision
- Operate office equipment including computers and simulation equipment used in the instruction
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
- Communicate clearly and respectfully, both verbally and in writing
- Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:
- Making observations
- Reading and writing
- Communicating with others
- Operating assigned equipment
- Handling varied tasks simultaneously
- Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following:
- Standing or sitting for extended periods of time
- Operating assigned equipment
- Handling varied tasks simultaneously
- Bending, stooping, climbing, or lifting up to 50 pounds
- Maintain mental capacity, which allow the capability of:
- Making sound decisions
- Responding to questions
- Demonstrating intellectual capabilities
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

- NCOEMS Level 1 Instructor
- AHA, NAEMT, or other instructor certifications
