Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in English or a related field from a regionally accredited institution is required. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.  

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience teaching or tutoring students a plus. 

Position Description

 

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

To provide students with additional learning resources related to coursework in English.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Tutoring in specified and approved subjects
    1. English
  • Following Tutoring guidelines and rules
    1. No homework – per administrative code
    2. No tutoring when student is scheduled for class
      • Per guidelines
    3. LSS Expectations [See expectations]
  • Maintaining tutoring area
  • Computers
    • No food or drink at computers
    • Reporting any problems to Director
    • Study tables
    • Carrels
    • Sign-in sheet
  • Supervising students in tutoring area
    1. Appropriate conduct – per posted conduct policy
    2. Provide assistance as needed
  • Tutoring Application Processing
    1. Assist in online application 
  • Reporting and Data Entry
    1. Tutoring Applications
    2. FTE forms
    3. Semester review and checklist
    4. Perkins time-sheet (if applicable)
    5. Grammar Evaluation check-in and scanning
  • Testing Room Assistance
    1. Manning testing desk if needed
    2. Follow test proctor guidelines
  • Email
    1. Regular review of HCC email
    2. Email notices to students via Writing Lab email

Additional duties as needed to perform essential tasks.
