Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education/Training:   

 

 High School Diploma or equivalent.

 

Minimum Experience

 

  • Minimum of one-year experience in graphic design or related field
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and other relevant design software.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of design projects that highlight creativity, attention to detail, and technical skills.
  • Solid understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout composition.
  • Knowledge of prepress and print layout for creating high resolution print documents
  • Ability to communicate ideas visually and collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing time and priorities efficiently.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt and iterate on designs based on feedback.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills:

 

 

  • Experience with photography, videography, or motion graphics.
  • Familiarity with web design principles and user experience concepts.
  • Knowledge of accessibility and inclusivity considerations in design.

Position Description

DEFINITION:

 

The Part-Time Graphic Designer at Cape Fear Community College will help the Community Relations team visually represent the College's brand and enhance communication through various design projects. The Part-Time Graphic Designer will work 20 hours per week on-site, contributing to the College's marketing, communications, and educational materials.

 

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

  • Receives general supervision from Vice President Marketing and Communications
  • Exercises no supervision

 

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

 

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications team, under the guidance of the Director of Publications and Brand Management, to develop visually compelling designs for digital and print media, including brochures, flyers, posters, banners, social media graphics, billboard designs, and website assets, among others.
  • Create and maintain consistent design elements, layouts, and templates that align with the College's brand guidelines.
  • Design graphics and illustrations to enhance the visual appeal of educational materials, presentations, and event collateral.
  • Conceptualize and execute engaging designs for digital platforms, including social media posts, email campaigns, and websites.
  • Transform complex information into clear and visually appealing infographics, charts, and diagrams.
  • Ensure all designs are well-organized, high-quality, and ready for print or online publication.
  • Collaborate with College divisions to understand project requirements and deliver designs that meet the objectives and target audience.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to deadlines and priorities while maintaining a high level of quality.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, design software advancements, and emerging technologies to continuously improve design techniques and creativity.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations on design best practices to colleagues and team members.

 

Qualifications

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
 

Knowledge of:

  • Modern design techniques, design software and practices used in printing and graphic design services.
  • Commercial printing production methods.
  • Principles and procedures involved in publication production.

Ability To:

  • Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:

    5. Handling varied tasks simultaneously
