Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education/Training:

  • Associate Degree from a regionally accredited institution in Graphic Arts, Graphic Communication or a related field

Minimum Experience:

  • 5 years of experience working in graphic design, print production or web design or related field. 
  • Proficiency in Mac-based-related software, including Adobe CS5 (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) 
  • Highly skilled in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat)

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 5 years of professional experience
  • 2 years of teaching experience
  • Web design experience using some combination of Dreamweaver, Muse, Wix, Foursquare or Wordpress

Position Description

DEFINITION:

To provide face-to-face classroom instruction through lecture, demonstration, laboratory exercises, handouts, responding to questions, and testing to guide students through graphic design coursework.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

  • Receives direct supervision and/or technical direction from Coordinator, Continuing Education-Workforce Development Training and lead instructor of graphic design
  • May occasionally receive general supervision from full-time instructional staff
  • Exercises no supervision

 

 

 

 

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENT:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
 

  • Provide classroom and laboratory instruction to students
  • Prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities
  • Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance; grade record individual scores
  • Provide classroom demonstrations on various equipment and machinery; develop laboratory assignments to provide hands on experience as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance
  • Maintain and submit all required paperwork in accordance with CFCC policies, including but not limited to: class rosters, registration forms, pay sheets, attendance forms and grade rosters
  • Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to required teaching area and in accordance with CFCC policies and guidelines

Other Important Functions:

  • Assess the relevancy and impact of various lessons and recommend improvements as needed
  • Oversee and participate in field studies and assignments; travel with students to provide assistance and instruction as appropriate
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

  • Classroom and laboratory instructional techniques and procedures
  • Principles and procedures of academic and instructional techniques and procedures
  • Current trends, research and development in the area of assignment
  • Principles and techniques involved in test development and administration

 
Ability To:

  • Interpret and apply College goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Interpret and apply Federal, State and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully, both orally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain cooperative-working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for polished written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Maintain physical condition, with or without assistance, appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following:
    1. Standing or sitting for extended periods of time
    2. Operating assigned equipment
    3. Handling varied tasks simultaneously 
    4. Bending, stooping, climbing, or lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Maintain mental capacity, which allow the capability of:
    1. Making sound decisions
    2. Responding to questions
    3. Demonstrating intellectual capabilities

Special Instructions to Applicants:

  • Position available at the Downtown Campus.  Course will be face-to-face instruction.

 

  • Interviews will include a teaching demonstration and portfolio review.
