DEFINITION:

To provide classroom instruction to college students through lecture, demonstration, and laboratory exercises, handouts, responding to questions and testing.

This position involves teaching various classes in Architectural Technology to include planning and Estimating, Specifications and Contracts, and other related courses.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

Employees within this class are distinguished from the Program Director and Full-time Faculty by the performance of basic and general instructional duties. Employees at this level receive instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

  • Receives general supervision and/or technical direction from the Department Chair and/or the Program Director
  • Exercises no supervision.

 

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

 

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:

  • Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Provide classroom and laboratory instruction to students
  • Prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities
  • Develop and prepare supplement materials to enhance textbook lessons
  •  Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance; grade and record individual scores
  •  Provide classroom demonstrations and develop laboratory assignments to provide hands on experience      as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance
  •  Maintain and submit all required paperwork in a neat, accurate and timely fashion, including but not limited to class rosters, registration forms, pay sheets, attendance forms and grade rosters
  •  Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to required teaching area and in accordance with CFCC policies and guidelines

Other Important Functions:

  • Assess the relevancy and impact of various lessons and recommend improvements as needed
  • Oversee and participate in field studies and assignments; travel with students to provide assistance and instruction as appropriate
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

 

Qualifications

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

  • Classroom and laboratory instructional techniques and procedures
  • Principles and procedures of academic and instructional techniques and procedures.
  • Current trends, research and development in the area of assignment
  • Principles and techniques involved in test development and administration
  • Processes and procedures relevant to the construction trades with specific application to design
  • Software relevant to the field of Architecture, including AutoCAD 2016, Revit and Photoshop

Ability To:

  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully, both verbally and in writing
  • Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:
    1. Making observations

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

  • This is a temporary part time contracted position and does not offer benefits other than voluntary participation in a 403B or 457 Retirement plan, for which no employer match is offered. Additionally, part time positions do not accrue vacation or sick leave, and do not accrue hours towards state service.
