Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in any field; two to four years Financial Aid or Foundation experience. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills;  

Preferred Qualifications

Community College work experience; two to four years of Financial Aid or Foundation experience;  Experience with Datatel / Colleague, and/or AwardSpring scholarship management software highly desired; experience with budgeting and balancing accounts; strong communication skills both written and verbal; Advanced analytical, administrative and computer skills required (Microsoft Office skills -Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database management) working with students, faculty, and staff.

Position Description

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

This individual will work within the Haywood Community College Foundation & Alumni Office, managing the College Foundation Scholarship program and developing positive relations with current and prospective students, donors and alumni. The Scholarship Coordinator continuously evaluates the Foundation Scholarship program and identifying opportunities for growth.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Scholarships

  • In coordination with the Foundation Office, oversee the activities of the scholarship process including management of a master list of all scholarships, application, selection, and awarding of CU and CE scholarships.
  • Advertise available scholarships and deadlines. Responsible for management of Award Spring program.
  • Manage Emergency and Extenuating Scholarship funds in coordination with the Foundation Office.
  • Manage Tools & Tech, GED, Continuing Education funds in coordination with the Foundation Office.
  • Attend all Scholarship Committee meetings, take minutes and provide support to the committee chair.
  • Attend Foundation Board meetings and provide updates as needed
  • Serve as lead coordinator for the Scholarship Recognition Event with the Foundation Office.
  • Reconcile scholarship accounts with the Business Office.
  • Train scholarship committee members and serve as lead coordinator.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for all communication with students, parents and counselors.
  • Maintain and utilize the Foundations’ scholarship software.
  • Research potential partnerships with schools.
  • Evaluate the scholarship process on an annual basis.
  • May drive college-owned vehicles.
  • May be responsible for additional duties pursuant to the success of the purpose.
