Minimum Qualifications

Preferred: Associate degree or higher in an academic or technical field from a regionally accredited institution.
 
Required: Associate's degree with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in higher education, education, community outreach, or a comparable field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Preferred Qualifications

Physical Requirements:  Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment including a computer, telephone, basic office equipment, vehicle, etc.  Must be able to exert up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting much of the time, but involves walking and standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling, etc. for periods of time.  Must be able to lift and /or carry weights of up to 50 pounds.
Data Conception:  Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable functional, structural or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things.
Interpersonal Communications:  Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information.  Includes giving assignments and/or directions to volunteers and receiving assignments and/or directions from supervisor.
Language Ability:  Requires ability to read a variety of policy and procedure manuals, regulations, reports, etc. Requires the ability to prepare reports, schedules, correspondence, etc. with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar, using all parts of speech.  Requires the ability to speak with and before others with poise, voice control and confidence.
Intelligence:  Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form; to deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Requires the ability to make independent judgments in absence or supervision; to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation.  Must have the ability to comprehend and interpret received information and to understand and implement basic office machinery functions.
Verbal Aptitude:  Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow and give verbal and written instructions, to counsel and teach volunteers and offenders.  Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of technical and/or professional languages.
Numerical Aptitude:  Requires the ability to add and subtract totals, to multiply and divide, to determine percentages and decimals and to determine time.
Forms/Spatial Aptitude:  Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width and shape, and visually read various information.
Motor Coordinator:  Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes using office machinery; and to drive motor vehicles.
Manual Dexterity:  Requires the ability to handle a variety of items, keyboards, office equipment, control knobs, buttons, switches, catches, etc. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
Color Discrimination and Visual AcuityRequires the ability to differentiate colors and shades of color; requires the visual acuity to determine depth perception, peripheral vision, inspection for small parts; preparing and analyzing written or computer data, etc.
Interpersonal Temperament:  Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress when confronted with emergency, unusual or dangerous situations. The worker may be subject to danger or risk to a slight degree.

Position Description

Under limited supervision, the individual in this position is to oversees activities for off-campus programs and evening/weekend classes and work closely with Pitt Community College's (PCC) Police Department to ensure that our buildings are safe and secure. The person in this position will serve as a liaison between the administration, students, and faculty for the Off-Campus and of evening/weekend programs. The individual will serve as the administrator on duty relative to issues that may require administrative over site during the time that program courses are offered. This position requires flexible working hours including evenings, weekends, and split shifts.  Reports directly to Coordinator of Off-Campus Programs.

Works closely with the program directors and front desk staff on staying abreast of the division's course offerings.
 
Acts as the primary contact for students enrolled in evening/weekend classes including offering advising, registration, and academic planning as well as arranging other services as needed to be available during the evening/weekends.
 
Acts as the primary contact for instructors teaching during evenings/weekends, to serve as a resource including troubleshooting technical problems, coordinating with appropriate College services, and overseeing the evening/weekend classroom schedule.
 
Assists students with enrollment process, including registration forms and other necessary paperwork.
 
Walks around the buildings to ensure the safety and security of the students and faculty.
Contacts the proper authorities if an emergency takes place and provide updates to the dean, directors and PCC Police. 

Maintains proficiency and working knowledge of all Off-Campus and Evening/Weekend services including, but not limited to registration process, acceptance of proper documentation needed to complete the registration, and knowledgeable of all of the programs the division offers.

Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, e-mail messages, web pages, schedules, or other documents as necessary.

Attends and completes in-service training and other professional development opportunities.

Refers to the College Catalog; College Employee Manual; policy and procedure manuals; computer manuals; codes/ laws/ regulations; publications and reference texts, etc. to acquire information.

Operates a computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data; verifies accuracy of entered data and makes corrections; utilizes word processing, spreadsheet, database, desktop publishing, e-mail, Internet, or other programs.

Performs related duties as directed.
