Minimum Qualifications
- Current BLET Instructor certification
- Current General Instructor certification
- Current Specialized Instructor Certification as Firearms, Driving, and Rapid Deployment Instructor. etc.
- Experience in developing educational programs
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as Qualified Assistant
- Experience as BLET instructor
- Experience in local Law Enforcement.
- One to three years of experience in developing educational programs for law enforcement
- Community College experience as School Director and/or Qualified Assistant
- Supervisor experience
- CPR Instructor
Position Description
Essential Functions:
Plans, develops, coordinates and delivers the Criminal Justice standards that have been accredited to the Criminal Justice Training Course
- Will assist in teaching specialized instructor classes as firearms, rapid deployment and driving.
- Work with Administrative Assistant to assure all college paperwork is complete and accurate.
- Assist in selecting and schedules qualified instructors certified by the Criminal Justice Standards Division
- Delivers all Criminal Justice Standards Division reports on time.
- Ensures the accreditation of the Basic Law Enforcement Training Program
- Ensures all training aids are available and that training is done in a safe manner
- Maintain daily supervision over the students and instructors
- Promotes and publicizes the Basic Law Enforcement Training Program
- Maintains contact and makes timely reports to sponsoring law enforcement agencies
- Ensures all records and reports be kept in accordance with state and Alamance Community College regulations
- Recruits, interviews, and recommends the appointment of instructors to the appropriate supervisor and provide appropriate orientation
- Submits all hiring documents and verification of credentials for all instructors
- Assists instructors in course planning, instructional delivery, and classroom management
- Prepares a master schedule of course offerings each semester that meet the needs of the program area and the students; assigning teaching schedules for instructors, teach assigned sections of the BLET curriculum
- Supervises and evaluates the operation of all courses and instructors in accordance with policy, including class visitations
- Identifies and recommends professional development needs of the instructors
- Facilitates the communication of division and/or college information to instructors, via meeting, email, etc., as needed
- Communicates instructors' needs to the appropriate supervisor
