The Purpose

The Coordinator of High School Programs & Recruitment is a member of the Enrollment Management Department and is responsible for the College’s student recruitment program.  Duties include responsibility for recruiting and admissions for high school concurrent enrollment programs at Blue Ridge and recruiting for traditional/non-traditional students for all curriculum programs.

 What You'll be Doing       

 

  • Administer and maintain the Customer Relationship Management solution for Recruiting/Prospective Students. 
  • Design and implement a comprehensive, innovative recruiting program for the College aimed at attracting the maximum number of students from Blue Ridge's service area who may benefit from the educational programs offered
  • Maintain a comprehensive prospect list 
  • Coordinate admissions processes and procedures for all high school students enrolling at the College under Career and College Promise. Work closely with the Registrar, Office for Instruction, Career Coaches, Director of Enrollment Management, and the Vice President for Student Services to provide the most effective and efficient process for all high school enrollment.
  • Conduct regular recruiting visits to area home schools and private schools and other industry/community sites as appropriate.
  • Conduct regular sessions with Boys and Girls Club and establish a year long program of workshops. 
  • Provide Career Counseling to students as needed to assist Success Coaches 
  • Attend community events/activities as appropriate.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule which may include some evenings, weekends, and travel.
  • Schedule tours for prospective students, public and private school tour groups.  Work closely with the Coordinator of Student Life to arrange Student Leaders (Ambassadors and Student Government to assist with tours). 
  • Serve as liaison with high school counselors and teachers in the College’s service area, seeking to enhance their awareness of Blue Ridge programs and build their support of the College.  
  • Represent the College at various CACRAO College Day or Night programs and other high school recruiting/public relations activities.   
  • Work with faculty members and department deans on recruitment strategies/plans for each program of study and facilitate faculty involvement in recruitment plans.  
  • When needed share admissions duties with the Student Services Success Coaches 
  • Manage the recruiting budget section of the Enrollment Management department.
  • Ensure compliance and confidentiality with all policies and procedures of the College, NC Community College System, and applicable State and Federal agencies.

Additionally  

  • Design and implement a program of ongoing correspondence with prospective students that coordinates with the College Enrollment Management Plan.
  • Respond to written inquiries about Blue Ridge programs from prospective students.
  • Maintain technical competencies necessary to the job function.  
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Education

Associate degree is required. Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing and to represent the College in a professional manner.
  • Maintain an enthusiastic, self-reliant and self-starting approach to meet job responsibilities.
  • Ability to work with students, faculty, staff and other administrators to implement the mission and objectives of the college.
  • Computer skills and attention to detail required. 
  • Working knowledge of the College Student Information System is preferred
  • A strong commitment to safety, personal and professional integrity.

Physical Demands

The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines.
