Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Requirements (Applicant must meet all of the minimum requirements)
1. Bachelor’s degree;
2. One year of full-time or equivalent experience working in a student services-related area in higher education or high school setting;
3. Experience in planning, organizing, and implementing educational programs and services;
4. Experience providing tracking and assessment to ensure the quality of educational programs and services.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master’s degree;
2. Two years of full-time or equivalent higher education student services-related experience;
3. One year of full-time or equivalent higher education advising experience;
4. Direct experience with and working knowledge of secondary education standards in North Carolina;
5. Direct experience with and familiarity with service area public schools;
6. Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language
Position Description
Job Description Summary
The Recruiter & College Liaison works collaboratively to promote and deliver a seamless educational transition process for high school students into Career and College Promise (CCP) programs and beyond. This role is responsible for student recruitment, enrollment plans, and strategies designed to increase enrollment and success while serving as a success advocate for dually enrolled students at assigned high schools. The liaison will utilize discretion and independent judgment to recruit, advise, and enroll high school students into CCP courses. This role will also contribute to the growth, development, and activities of the College and department that promote a commitment to access and student success for a diverse student body. This position will work predominantly with Buncombe County Early and Middle College programs.
Duties
- Advises all dually enrolled high school students, in person or remotely as needed, in the Career and College Promise student completion of a certificate or expressed academic and career goal(s).
- Serves as a success coach and advocate for assigned high school students to assist them in the successful completion of their college coursework and academic/career goals, with a focus on career guidance through high school and assisting with the transition from CCP to regular college admission when appropriate.
- Ensures compliance regarding CCP Administrative Code for FTE compliance and NCCCS system office standards with regard to the enrollment of assigned schools/CCP students in tuition waived courses while in high school.
- Prepares and/or processes various records and reports for enrollment purposes, utilizing College and High School partner technology (e.g. Colleague, Informer, Powerschool) as required.
- Registers high school students for college classes following A-B Tech and NCCCS policies, processes, and procedures.
- Participates in the recruitment and CCP-related functions including but not limited to Open Houses, Information Sessions, Parent Nights, and Campus Tours.
- Serves as the primary liaison between assigned high schools and A-B Tech assuring a positive and mutually beneficial long and short-term partnership.
- Utilizes the College Early Alert system and follows up with students and faculty to assist students in the successful completion of course and degree requirements.
- Contributes and adheres to the College Vision, and Mission including RISE principles, Values, and Foundational Focus Areas.
- Supports workforce diversity in all its aspects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
