• Bachelor’s degree
• Proficiency in customer service skills
• Ability to communicate positively and cooperatively with students and co-workers
• Ability to interact with students from diverse educational backgrounds
• Ability to work independently while contributing to the team environment
• Availability to work at least one evening per week

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in working with adult students
• Proficiency in Excel
• Experience working with diverse populations

Position Description

Job Description

The Retention and Success Coach is a part-time position with duties on both Union and Anson county campuses with day and evening hours. Under the direction of the Adult Basic Skills Assistant Director, the Retention and Success Coach assists students in achieving their educational and career goals by identifying barriers to student success and implementing proactive strategies that promote retention. The expectation of this position is to impact MSG rates by increasing retention and transition to post-secondary education or the workforce.

Job Duties

• Expertly interact with data, presentation, email, and other institutional software
• Participate in student orientation sessions for incoming English Language Learners and High School Equivalency students.
• Communicate directly with students via phone, email, text, or other media
• Provide positive support and manage barriers with internal and community referrals
• Work collaboratively with staff and instructors with a goal of retention and increased MSG rates
• Monitor rosters regularly to target at-risk students
• Prepare and implement intervention plans for at-risk students to stay engaged or reengage
• Assist the test administrator with pre- and post-testing duties
• Assist students in transition goals to postsecondary education or the workforce
• Participate in appropriate training sessions
