Associate’s degree is required

Position Description

The Retention and Transition Specialist provides support services for students who have stopped out of the college and seek them to return. The specialist will engage stop-out students with a variety of student services activities to ensure student reentry in the college is successful.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborate with appropriate campus departments to design, develop and implement a comprehensive student services system that includes individualized outreach, success tracking, and appropriate interventions and accommodations
Serves as a liaison for students to student support services such as tutoring, advising, financial aid and accessibility services
Provides resources and opportunities for students to explore careers and degree options
Creates programs to support the various development and social needs of students
Develops recruitment programs for students to attend for reentry
Identifies specific cohort groups with targeted interventions
Creates and administers student surveys aimed at providing feedback on student needs
Utilizes data to guide interventions and monitors effectiveness and student progress
Assists faculty and staff in identifying trends and researching best practices in student retention
Tracks student performance using college software

Surroundings/Environment:
Standard office environment, usually indoors away from the elements, with moderate noise.

Physical Effort:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain a stationary position for an extended period; move about the office, operate and position computers and files, as needed; and frequently communicate with others. The employee may occasionally move up to 15 pounds. Work may include operation of a motor vehicle.

Scheduling:
This is a part-time position. Normal working hours will be between 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday; however must be available to work occasionally on weekends and evenings.

Travel:
Local travel is required, including between campus locations. Out of state travel is limited, but may be required for special trainings/conferences.
