Occupational Summary
The School Certifying Official Assistant provides immediate assistance to veteran students utilizing any VA benefit. This position is primarily located within the Student Center at the main campus.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Processes veteran's affairs applications
- Establishes records to track VA educational benefits awarded
- Works closely with the Student Accounts Office on Vocational Rehabilitation benefits and ensures proper procedures for the charging of these students
- Produces reports for the College and outside entities on the number of veterans served, educational benefits received and other necessary information for end of year reports
- Conducts admission interviews and performs various administrative functions such as processing applications, status changes, etc.
- Verifies official last date of attendance of any VA student who withdrawals or is automatically withdrawn from classes
- Participates in appropriate committees and task forces as assigned
- Performs other job-related duties and projects as assigned in support of the College's mission, core values and goals
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
Two (2) years' experience in student services or working with military populations.
Preferred:
Military veteran.

- Knowledge of community college admissions, programs of study and registration processes
- Knowledge of college policies and procedures, academic requirements, campus resources, student life and support services
