Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.

Experience in a Control Room Environment.

Experience with Clery Act compliance.

OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Senior Control Room Operator is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating Control Room policies and procedures, and performing Control Room daily operations.  This position carries out campus wide security system surveillance to recognize signs of threat and risks, provides detailed security systems analysis, and implements life and property security safeguards to ensure the welfare of students, employees, and guests.  This position is responsible for the security systems training management of all Campus Security Officers and is responsible for supervising all security department staff in the absence of the Director.  Additionally, this position is tasked with Clery Act reporting compliance for the College. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Observes and monitors campus wide security systems; maintains efficient and timely Control Room operations and reporting by utilizing the technologies available to ensure the campus remains secure and any suspicious activity is reported in line with standard operating procedures
  • In coordination with the College’s Information Technology Department tracks and records the status of all campus security systems to ensure the integrity and operation of these systems is constantly maintained
  • Activates emergency notification systems as necessary
  • Exhibits good judgment and initiative in security and emergency situations, providing appropriate assistance, summoning additional assistance, escalating as needed, and notifying the appropriate leadership and authorities of the nature of the emergency and current situation 
  • Makes routine tours on all campus areas; enforces College policies and procedures regarding student conduct; investigates, maintains, and reports information on all criminal activities to the appropriate authorities
  • Assists in medical emergencies, fire evacuations, tornado warnings, bomb threats, and exercise drills as needed
  • Trains all Campus Security Officers in security systems operations and Control Room management
  • Serves as a Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act
  • Manages the College’s Timely Warning Report Program
  • Assists in the preparation, publishing, and distribution of the Annual Security Report and submits annual crime statistics to the Department of Education
  • Provides campus security training programs for students, faculty, and staff; ensures accurate records of crime prevention programs and presentations are maintained
  • Establishes and implements both short- and long-term Security Department goals and objectives, ensuring operational alignment with the College’s mission, core values, and goals
  • Participates in appropriate committees and task forces as assigned
  • Performs other job-related duties and projects as assigned in support of the College’s mission, core values and goals

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent.

Three (3) years’ experience in a security or law enforcement setting.
