Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree. Note: Degrees and hours must be from a college accredited by a United States Department of Education accepted accrediting agency such as SACSCOC.
• Proficiency in SAS programming or related programming language with the ability to write programs
• Practical experience with reporting, analysis, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel, Tableau, etc.)
• Working knowledge of SQL
• Proficiency in data extraction from comprehensive information systems.
• Detail oriented.
• Team oriented and collaborative.
• Strong analytical skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Strong relational database and SQL experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social science, information technology, computational or computer science or related fields.
• Five years of experience in research, data systems and reporting in a higher education setting
• Advanced analytical and research training
• Ability to tell a story using quantitative and qualitative data
• Working knowledge of SAS, XML, and JavaScript
• Familiarity with educational data files and ERP system elements (Ellucian preferred)

Position Description

The Senior Data Analyst will collect, interpret, and analyze Institutional data and provide technical expertise to support the office of Strategic Innovation and Effectiveness.

• Run queries, compile, transform, and clean data from multiple data sources, including relational databases and flat files.
• Create and manage datasets using a statistical software package (SAS preferred).
• Develop and implement data quality assurance procedures.
• Familiarity with data retrieval and statistical packages (SAS preferred)
• Updates, automates, and documents data and business processes.
• Prepares clear and effective reports and presentations using data visualization tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI)
• Produces routine and customized reports to respond to College needs.
• Identify information needs by anticipating questions through the review of data, information, and research studies.
• Identifies trends, opportunities, and concerns through data analysis.
• Determines a plan of action, establishes timelines, and monitors task completion of projects.
• Ensures data is appropriately accessible and usable to those who need to make decisions.
• Establish cohorts to support institutional and federal reporting

• Review and optimize office workflow processes.

OTHER:
• Be familiar with and adhere to all College policies and procedures
• Serve on standing and ad hoc College Committees, as needed
• Assume other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Strategic Innovation and Effectiveness
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
• Ability to effectively present information (oral and written) and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations and to use descriptive statistics and research methods

REASONING ABILITY:
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to analyze and interpret data, and to report in a logical, sequential, and understandable manner to diverse groups throughout the College.
