Master’s degree from an accredited institution
At least two years of supervisory experience
At least two years experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified
Experience successfully developing and managing budgets
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching adult learners
Experience in academic administration
At least two years experience working in community college
Experience as a Director of Basic Skills/College and Career Readiness or extensive experience in adult education
Ability to exhibit leadership, initiative, enthusiasm, teamwork and collaboration with faculty, staff and with external constituents in the execution of responsibilities
Ability to foster a cooperative environment
Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy and developing and implementing practices that support learners
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

What you'll do on a typical day
Description: The Senior Director, College and Career Readiness (CCR) is a full time 12 month position responsible for leadership and direction of all CCR programs and activities. In addition to supervision of programs, the Senior Director will be responsible for budgeting, evaluation, planning and day to day operations within CCR. Regular collaboration with curriculum and continuing education faculty and staff will be critical to building successful opportunities for CCR students to transition to credential attainment opportunities beyond CCR. The Senior Director will be based at the Lexington Campus but will have responsibilities at various other locations. The Senior Director will be responsible for overall supervision of high school equivalency programs, Adult Basic Ed,Occupational Network, English as a Second Language, and the NextGen program. The Senior Director reports to the Associate Vice President, Academic Programs and Services.
Essential Job Functions:
- Direct, supervise and evaluate all CCR functions and programs in a way that incorporates continuous improvement
- Lead staff in preparing applications for funding including all funding acquired through the North Carolina Community College System
- Maintain current knowledge of adult education practices in order to provide leadership in developing professional learning activities for staff and oversee performance management
- Provide leadership for development, preparation and submission of internal and external reports
- Provide leadership for recruitment, retention and transition planning for CCR students
- Monitor performance metrics and guide staff in development, implementation and assessment of improvement plans as necessary
- Manage budget and resources in a way that ensures delivery of high quality educational experiences that meet the needs of students and the community
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners
- Collaborate with curriculum and continuing education faculty and staff and other campus resources to ensure career exploration opportunities and seamless transition for students
- Provide guidance to staff and faculty in handling student issues according to DDCC policy and practice
- Serve as the primary point of contact for CCR with the North Carolina Community College System Office including attendance at meetings and training sessions
- Maintain a high level of sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds
- Supports the mission, vision, and values of the College and attends College events and meetings
