Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Statistics, Business Analytics, Operational Research, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or Engineering, or closely related to quantitative/computational sciences field   

Work Experience in data science techniques, statistical methods, predictive modeling, and forecasting; data quality control and validation   

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in statistics, computer science, mathematics, or closely related to quantitative/computational sciences  

Experience with higher education data recording system such as Colleague Datatel  

Position Description

Pay Grade: Professional 7

This position leverages reporting and business intelligence tools to provide the data analysis, research and insights required for official college reporting and strategic efforts that support student success and completion.  The position will design, execute, and interpret complex research studies for evaluating and improving programs, projects and services and forecast educational outcomes.

 Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions):

*Formulates research questions to address and solve complex institutional challenges  

*Integrates concepts and data from sources such as institutional, local, state, and federal databases to create analyses that serves the college's compliance, research and strategic efforts  

*Builds statistical models for predicting and forecasting outcomes 

*Leads end-to-end analysis to characterize, model and forecast educational outcomes and trends, including: project planning and research design; developing methodology; identifying data sources; data querying, cleaning and gathering; processing and validation; statistical analysis and interpretation; and visualization  

*Uses database query tools and statistical, analytical and visualization software to extract, manipulate, analyze, interpret and visualize data trends and patterns and uncover insights  

*Integrates internal and external data sets to understand underlying patterns and trends for research studies and the colleges strategic efforts.   

*Synthesizes and communicates insights from research and data for decision makers through data visualizations, reports and presentations   

Participates in data governance efforts, interacting cross-functionally with a wide variety of people and teams to generate and organize methods, plans, and data constructs necessary for effective analytics  

Trains others in research design, statistical analysis and visualization techniques  

Prepares effective presentations and writes reports for a wide range of stakeholders using visual displays of quantitative and qualitative information  

Develops procedures for record-keeping, data retrieval, quality control and analysis of data 

Maintains accurate records and documentation on reports and extractions that ensures high quality and accurate results within deadlines

Assists employees in incorporating study results into reports & presentations  

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities  

Demonstrated proficiency in industry standard programing languages (such as Python, R, Power BI) and analytics packages such as (SAS, SPSS, Power BI etc.) as well as visualization software such as Tableau.

Ability to produce high quality, accurate results in a deadline-driven environment  

Ability to prepare reports for a variety of stakeholders in a cohesive and intuitive manner  

Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to explain technical and statistical information in understandable terms  

Understanding of research methods and data analytics needed in higher education  

Knowledge and use of relational databases   

Takes initiative and is a quick learner  

Professional, enthusiastic and dedicated to customer service

Works both independently and cooperatively in a team environment  

Collaborative attitude with an ability to develop and maintain working relationships with internal departments and external contacts as appropriate

Demonstrates strong time management and organizational skills
