  Associate Degree in Information Technology or similar field .·Industry certifications such as CCNA or MCSE preferred.  

Work Experience:  A minimum of three years experience in the administration of Unix/Linux/Windows based servers in a virtual environment.

·         A minimum of three years experience in the implementation and management of computer networks.

·         A minimum of three years experience in the implementation and management of computer networks.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·         Effectively organize work and perform creatively under tight deadlines without close supervision;

·         Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, in both crisis and planning situations;

·         Well-versed in the maintenance and upgrade of desktop computers in a networked environment;  

·         Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite;

·         Extensive knowledge of computer hardware and software;

·         Extensive knowledge of instructional software used in a community college setting;

·         Knowledge of audiovisual equipment used in the educational setting;

·         Evidence of strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and effective oral and written communication/public relation skills;

·         Demonstrate competence with problem-solving and critical thinking skills;

  • Personal integrity, honesty, and the ability to maintain confidentiality; and
  • Ability to contribute to the success of the college’s mission, goals, and objectives by demonstrating professionalism, enthusiasm, and superior customer service.

Essential Functions

Server & Network Administrator: This position leads and coordinates the work of the Media Services team, Desktop Support Team, Network Support Team. The Media Services team is responsible for planning, implementing, and supporting audiovisual systems on the college’s campuses and for providing technical and creative media support for educational programs and college events. The Desktop Support team is responsible for maintaining desktop computers used by campus employees, students, and visitors. The Network Support Team is responsible for maintaining the campus computer network and equipment. In addition, the Director will perform the role of Senior Systems Administrator when required. 

 Job Duties:

Job duties and responsibilities are as follows: 
• Assist in the installation of communications lines and Ethernet wiring; 
• Assist in the design and implementation of new networks on campus; 
• Work with vendors and technical staff on the network implementation, network optimization and ongoing network management; 
• Act as backup Network Administrator in all phases of networking; 
• Assist in the installation and maintenance of network and host equipment when so directed; 
• Make suggestions for improving user support; 
• Assist in Installation and maintenance of network hardware and software; 
• Assist in troubleshooting of network problems; 
• Setting up and maintaining the campus wireless network; 
• Assist with maintaining network security through various hardware and software devices; 
• Serve on various college committees as assigned; and 
• Perform additional duties or activities as assigned by the supervisor, division vice president, and/or the president.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described as follows are representative of those that must be met by an employee in performing the essential functions of this job: 
• Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time; 
• Ability to lift at times 10 to 30 lbs.; 
• Work outside of the office setting; and 
• Good eye/hand dexterity.
