Minimum Qualifications

1. Associate’s degree;
2. Three years of customer service experience and computer/software applications;
3. Two years of workforce development experience in human resources, workforce consulting/recruiting, or education;
4. Two years of demonstrated database maintenance experience;
5. Proven ability through sales, marketing, or recruiting experience to build successful business relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience using the NC Community College System’s Colleague database;
2. Experience administering Career Readiness Certificate and WorkKeys activities;
3. Demonstrated experience maintaining web sites;
4. Demonstrated work-based learning experience;
5. Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language;
6. One year of experience working with a demographically diverse population.

Position Description

Job Description Summary

Serves as primary support for the Economic & Workforce Development Department, which includes the Director, Advanced Manufacturing Center Coordinator, Workplace Learning Coordinator, Customized Training Coordinator, three full-time instructors, and support for all activities in and associated with the Advanced Manufacturing Center.

Duties

Advanced Manufacturing Center
• Provides excellent customer service in the Welcome Area of the Advanced Manufacturing Center;
• Assures proper submission, flow, and compliance of class documentation associated with the Advanced Manufacturing Center;
• Serves as department administrator for instructor payroll activities;
Staff Support
• Provides administrative support to the Director of Economic & Workforce Development as needed;
• Assists the Advanced Manufacturing Center Coordinator with seasonal catalog construction, open enrollment class administration, and other duties as needed;
• Serves as NC E-Procurement initiator and administrator for materials, supplies, and services orders for department;
Work-Based Learning
• Provides administrative support to the Workplace Learning Coordinator (who serves both Curriculum and Continuing Education) as needed;
• Provides administrative support (setup, paperwork, tracking) for the local expansion (at A-B Tech) of registered pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship programs, collaborating with the Director of EWD, Workplace Learning Coordinator, Curriculum faculty, regional apprenticeship coordinator (funded by NCCCS collaboration and expansion grant), and western region apprenticeship consultant (NCCCS ApprenticeshipNC);
• Sets up and administers FTE-generating Continuing Education work-based learning classes (new legislation) under the direction of the Director of EWD and Workplace Learning Coordinator;
• Provides offsite support such as pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship registrations, ApprenticeshipNC contract construction, resume and job interview skills classes conducted at offsite locations, and collaborations with local high schools, as directed by the Director of EWD and the Workplace Learning Coordinator;
Career Readiness Certificate
• Coordinates all activities associated with Career Readiness Certificate testing, including scheduling, proctoring, and managing supplies and materials;
Prison Education Program
• Works with lead instructor to coordinate class documentation and scheduling of Prison Education Facilities Maintenance classes;
General Responsibilities
• Contributes to the College Vision, Mission, Values, and Welcoming College statement;
• Performs other duties as assigned.
