Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in accounting or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• Thorough knowledge of accounting theory.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• Experience with Colleague software.

Position Description

Full-time 12 month staff position reports to the Controller. Responsible for a variety of professional accounting duties; providing support regarding internal control and general ledger functions.

· Assist with budget, monthly reporting, and annual financial statement preparation.

· Post transactions and categorize records in the general ledger.

· Reconcile general ledger accounts. Review sub-ledgers.

· Prepare bank reconciliations and monitor cash balances.

· Review monthly payroll and serve as back up to Payroll Specialist.

· Assist with documentation of accounting department procedures and perform periodic internal audit of processes and procedures.

· Prepare reports as required by supervisor, state auditors, community college system, federal agencies, and office of the state controller.

· Serve as acting Controller in absence of Controller.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
• Serve on the College’s Committees as assigned. Committee assignments may be subject to change.
• Participate in professional development activities designed to enhance job skills and knowledge, as agreed upon by the employee and supervisor.
• Comply with the College’s policies and procedures located on the BCCC website.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities, as assigned by supervisor.
