Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree or bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with a degree in a STEM related field (specifically Science, Technology, and Math).
Ability to tutor in multiple subject areas
Teaching or tutoring experience
Ability to speak Spanish
Position Description
Provide individual and small group tutoring to students in the Learning Enhancement Center. Assist students in improving academic achievement by meeting with them on a regular or as needed basis to clarify learning strategies and work on study skills. Other assistance might include: reviewing class material, discussing texts, formulating ideas for papers, and working on solutions to problems. Tutoring is a supplement to classroom teaching.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintain a weekly schedule of available hours for student appointments. Keep regular and accurate records of tutoring sessions using the Upswing software and/or relevant forms. Work with relevant instructors to obtain any necessary course syllabi or assignment materials. Attend training sessions and college meetings as required by the Director of Student Resources. Assist with additional duties as needed such as:
covering LEC front desk,
answering phones and emails,
organizing materials,
proctoring tests/exams,
assisting in the LEC Testing Center,
other assigned duties (be flexible).
