Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Disabilities, Education, Recreational Therapy, Instructional Design or related program of study field OR experience working with community college students of protected populations. Two years of experience in the higher education environment.
Knowledge and Skills
Experience with creating or interpreting Equity Plans at the community college level;
Experience assisting individuals with disabilities or equity-based challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred: Master’s Degree in stated fields and at least one year of experience working in fields supporting accessibility or equity
Position Description
Statement of Primary Purpose
The primary responsibility will be determining eligibility for services through documentation and/or interview, creating and maintaining the equity plan, including proactive contact with students and follow-up outreach to students and faculty. Support access to resources that will improve the persistence and success of students. This person will provide front line compliance assistance to students regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act including ensuring access to all forms of instruction, student life activities, and other campus events such as graduation. This position will provide input (as appropriate) in structural/physical design.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
• Create and maintain a comprehensive Student Accessibility and Equity office to provide creation of equity plans, accommodation of tests or exams, referral of students to available support resources and maintenance of other comprehensive services for differently abled students.
• Maintain a student database to include student eligibility documentation, equity plans and follow-up outreach.
• Function within a variety of regulations, policies and procedures concerning disability law and college policies.
• Work collaboratively with community-based partner organizations: Independent Living, Services for the Blind, Vocational Rehabilitation.
• Maintain an environment of confidentiality and respect
• Create marketing materials and maintain office websites.
• Follow NCCCS guidelines for Colleague system coding.
• Cultivate productive work relationships throughout the SCC community
• Coordinate and participate in SCC’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts and campaigns
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
• Serve as a member on college committees.

Working Conditions and Environment
Travel for training. Regular visits to all SCC campus locations. Peak times of each semester will require longer working hours
