Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Associate degree with at least one (1) year experience working in a higher education setting, non-profit organization, or K -12 school system.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusivity, as well as the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies (staff, students, faculty, administrators) with diplomacy and tact.
- Ability to maintain sensitive information.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office products.
- Active listener who is compassionate, resourceful, and helpful.
Preferred Qualifications

- Two (2) years experience connecting individuals to community support services.
- Two (2) or more years working in a higher education setting, non-profit organization, or K -12 school system.
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals who may be in distress and/or handling difficult interactions.
Position Description
Sandhills Community College seeks applications for a Student Advocate. The Student Advocate position will serve as a liaison, connecting at-risk students to on-campus and community support services ranging from academic assistance to community, food, and housing services. This position will serve as a case manager for students needing support in areas that go beyond the normal scope of the college. The position will work with students of concern to navigate administrative processes, refer students to appropriate college and community resources, advocate for student needs, and connect them to intervention resources. The Student Advocate will report to the Vice President of Student Services.
