Position Description
Under the general direction of the Dean of Student Services, the Student Engagement Coordinator is responsible for enhancing the overall educational experience of students through the development of, exposure to, and participation in programs and activities that improve student cooperation and leadership. This activities will prepare students to be responsible advocate/citizens and complement the institution's academic programs.
- Plans and directs the implementation of Student Engagement Activities to include programs, training sessions and activities.
- Serves as the SGA Advisor.
- Attends conferences and/or meeting at local, state or national levels with student leaders (SGA).
- Maintains the SGA annual calendar of events with input from SGA.
- Maintains the campus events calendar with input from all campus employees.
- Develops and integrates Student Engagement Activities with the college’s academic programs.
- Develops and integrates Student Engagement Activities with the college’s athletics programs.
- Assists with Recruitment Activities.
- Provide oversight of SCC mascot "Rocco" and organize the schedule.
- Serves as liaison to student organization advisors/leaders and provides administrative oversight of student organizations for the college.
- Develops and manages the budget for student activities and student government.
- Serves as a student advocate.
- Coordinates the Student ID system (including faculty, staff and students) for the college. Also orders supplies for the ID system and coordinates maintenance for the ID systems needed.
- Coordinates SGA Academic Awards Ceremony and other special events.
- Responsible for the direction, coordination, implementation, supervision, and administrative oversight for various college clubs, programs and events.
- Collaborates with academic support programs, college clubs/organizations, and community groups to encourage an inclusive environment, student involvement and retention.
- Organize and maintain the "Rams Pantry" for SCC students.
- Serves on committees as assigned.
- Provides supervision of the Nesmith Student Center.
- Assists with registration processes.
- Assists with orientation programs and other special events as needed by other organizations and departments.
- Processes purchase requests for Student Engagement purchases and club purchases.
- Assists with providing students for committees, special events (campus and community)
- Serves as an administrator for athletic teams.
- Hours are subject to events scheduled, including weekend and evening events.
- Other assignments as determined by the Dean of Student Services.
